Albrecht Dürer
St. Eustace

Oil on lime panel, 157 x 616 cm
Alte Pinakothek, Munich

St. Eustace wears the garb of a cavalry officer, which was his profession before he converted to Christianity. His standard bears the traditional symbol that identifies him, the head of a deer with a crucifix between its antlers.
