The Annunciation Doors

2002 AD
Bronze
Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli e Martiri

The artist reduces Annunciation iconography to its most basic: just the angel with raised arm, Mary bowing in acceptance, and a Trinity far above. (The Father is represented by a pointing hand as in thousands of earlier Annunciations, the Son by a face, and the Holy Spirit by a man blowing.)
