St. Gertrude

18th century
Polychrome high relief
Museum of the Church of San Paio (St. Pelagius)
Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Like the other St. Gertrude image in the museum, this work adds to the heart an image of the Christ Child. It also displaces the fiery background (seen, for example, in the Vieira Gertrude) from the heart to the Child and, to accommodate a larger child, displaces the heart from the saint's breast to her right hand.
