Pio Cristiano Sarcophagus 31551: Detail, Peter's Arrest and Water Miracle

The two scenes are drawn from legendary sources rather than scripture. On the right Peter is led off to prison in Rome by two soldiers. On the right he strikes the rock face of his prison cell and water gushes forth for him to use in baptizing his guards. This pair of images is common in sarcophagi of the period, always with Peter in a toga and the soldiers in short tunics, military boots, and pannonian caps.
