			The Deposition

			1600-1604

			Pinacoteca Vaticana, Rome

The label in the museum says this is a Deposition image, but I am surmising from the ledge and the plant beneath it that the men are about to place Jesus' body into the tomb.

The woman with raised arms should be Mary Magdalene, who assumes that posture in a number of images of the Crucifixion and Deposition. The woman in blue is of course the Virgin Mary.
