St. Sebastian

Wood, gesso, paint; painted eyes.
Approximately 3 feet tall (91 cm.)
Church of San Miguel Achiutla, Oaxaca, Mexico

The loincloth and raised right arm are typical of images of St. Sebastian in the 16th century and later.

The right arm has been repaired. The right middle finger is missing. The paint is chipped in places, especially the left leg. The loincloth is quite brief; there is a navel. A wooden implement is in the left hand.
