St. Hyacinth

17th century
The Dominican Church, Krakow, Poland

I am grateful to Antonina Zaba for suggesting this image of St. Hyacinth crossing the Dnieper dryshod with a statue of the Virgin Mary and a ciborium, and for the information on the image's date and location. To register that the saint is rescuing the Eucharist from a burning church, artists will show him holding a ciborium or, more often, a monstrance. In the image St. Hyacinth wears the Dominican habit and a liturgical stole.
