According to the museum's label, "Christ enthroned is flanked by angels. At the left, Truth holds up an image of the Virgin and Child to Humility; at the right, Mercy hands the archangel Gabriel a scepter with a scroll inscribed AVE GR[ATIA] PLENA TECUM (Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee [Luke 1:28]).
