St. Ursula is in the ship in the foreground, preaching to the virgins. The two shields on the after castle are for Pope Ciriacus (the crossed keys of St. Peter) and for England (the red cross on white, also seen on the banner flying at the prow).

According to the Golden Legend the saint was accompanied to Cologne by Ciriacus and a number of other bishops. Daddi puts them in a discreetly separate ship with the papal banner. In the third ship are Ursula's fiancé Ethereus (below the red-cross banner) and the others whom he brought to Cologne with him to meet Ursula and be martyred with her.
