Sainte Anne Trinitaire
Mechelen (Belgium), circa 1510
Walnut, modern polychrome
Musée National de l'Age Médiévale, Paris
The label at the museum refers to this Anna Selbdritt statue as "Ste Anne Trinitaire."
Mary sits on her mother's arm holding the Christ Child, who is himself holding a book. This is an adaptation, with a less formal pose, of the Throne of Wisdom type.
St. Anne's face is remarkably young considering she is a grandmother.
