The Cloisters St. Andrew Altarpiece: Detail, the central panel in the predella

The museum's label calls this a Resurrection. The angel, the rocky setting, and the head bent as if in death could support a hypothesis that this is the body just before it "resurrects," but it would be simpler to identify this image as a Man of Sorrows with the two essential elements in that image type, the sarcophagus and the piteously wounded body.

It is not uncommon for the central panel in a narrative predella to feature a non-narrative subject. In this case, the other panels all picture miracles effected by St. Andrew.
