St. Eligius

Saint Eligius uses his skill as a blacksmith or farrier to re-attach a horse's leg. The image presents the basics of a smithy: a bellows, tongs, a horsehoe, hammer and anvil, and a long rod.
The inscription is the beginning of a prayer in German, "O St. Loye, whom the Lord God has chosen for…"
