Images of St. Prosdocimus

The ewer is this saint's attribute.

The painting on the right is by Pordenone, 1515. The one on the left is by Mantegna, 1453-54. In both, St. Prosdocimus's attribute is the ewer he used to baptize one of his first converts in Padua, St. Justina. He had been sent to evangelize Padua by St. Peter, so he is pictured as a bishop, with a mitre and crozier in the Mantegna painting and a cope in the Pordenone.

Peter stands beside Prosdocimus in the Pordenone portrait holding one of the keys that are his attribute.
