Niclaus Manuel Deutsch, St. Eligius in the Workshop of Abbo

Dado of Rouen's vita does not actually say that Eligius made chalices, just that he learned the goldsmith's trade in the Limoges workshop of a master named Abbo. However, this painter and several artists before him do use a golden chalice as a way of picturing his original profession.
