Obedience has a closed book; Hope, a garland of flowers; Faith, a cross and chalice. Charity is pictured in the traditional manner, with a child nursing at her breast. In addition, each Virtue has an appropriate pair of animals sculpted in front of her pedestal (not shown): oxen for Obedience, eagles for Hope, dragons clutching serpents for Faith, and dogs for Charity.
