St. Luke and Two Commentators

1220-1230
Detail of the fresco on the apsidal vault
Church of St. John, Taufers, Italy

The saint on the left wears the chasuble and pointy hat that are associated with bishops in other parts of the fresco, but instead of a crozier he has a sceptre. The other saint wears simple clothing and has nothing on his head, even a tonsure. Luke is represented by an ox-headed figure holding up a stand with two books.
