Circa 1325

In the bottom half we see George's victory over the dragon with most of the details from the story in the Golden Legend: the lake, the red cross, the princess, and the people of Silena at the city walls.

George is also shown with his red-cross shield and banner in the capital D half-way down the text. The figure praying to the saint is most likely Cardinal Jacopo Stefaneschi, who commissioned the book
