Hans Memling
Mystical Marriage of St. Catherine of Alexandria

1470s
Oil on wood, 25 x 15 cm
Musée du Louvre, Paris

The painting is one panel of a diptych. The other wing probably represented the donor.

Clockwise, from the wheel in the lower center of the painting, are St. Catherine of Alexandria, (crown, book, and broken wheel), St. Agnes (lamb), St. Cecilia (organ on lap), St. Lucy (eyes on platter), St. Margaret (dragon at right thigh), and St. Barbara (tower behind hair).
