St. Marcellus

19th or 20th century
Church of St. Marcel
Village of St. Marcel, Aveyron, France

As can be seen from the inscription in the photo, St. Marcellus is known in France as St. Marcel. He was pope in the early 4th century.

The saint's garb is somewhat problematic. He is portrayed wearing the triple tiara of the papacy and the kind of chasuble a priest would wear at Mass, but the tiara is never worn in liturgical ceremonies, and the triple tiara is not documented before the 14th century.1
