The Life of St. Paul: Paul at the Home of Aquila and Priscilla

Circa 1857-60
Oil on canvas
Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, Rome

This is from a series of paintings by various artists that line the nave and transept of the basilica.

In Acts 18:1-4 Paul goes to Corinth, where he stays with a couple named Priscilla and Aquila, tent-makers like himself. As always in this series, Paul wears a green tunic and red cloak. Aquila, the husband, is standing in prayer while Priscilla listens to Paul's preaching.
