Santa María de la Asunción Nochixtlán
Asunción Nochixtlán is a town of almost 15,000 in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca state. It was entirely depopulated owing to epidemics in the years following the Spanish arrival to Mexico but then re-established by Francisco Orozco and about 50 Mixtec intellectuals and commerçants. In the church we will examine the altar of El Señor de la Misericordia.
