Saint John the Baptist
Local Name: San Juan Bautista
Basis for Identification: The figure
is clothed in animal skin. A lamb reclines on a book
held in the left hand. The cruciform staff has a pennant
reading "ecce agnus Dei qui tollis" (John's word
concerning Jesus: "Behold the Lamb of God, who take[s]
away [the sin of the world]" - see John 1:29)
