Piastrilli, St. Ignatius of Antioch Condemned by Trajan

Circa 1700-21
Fresco
Church of St. Clement, Rome

This is one of several narrative images of St. Ignatius lining the nave at San Clemente. Even while being hustled away from the Emperor, St. Ignatius continues to declare the truth of his faith. The setting is in Antioch, which Trajan had been visiting when he heard about the saint's preaching.
