Street corner in Le Puy-en-Velay, France
In France and Quebec a calvaire is an open-air crucifix usually placed in a country lane but in this case in a city street. This one is unusual in picturing angels collecting Christ's blood in chalices as it flows from his five wounds, a Eucharistic image more common in paintings.
