St. George and the Dragon
Mid-15th century
Stained glass
The Cloisters, New York City
This is one of the few such images in which St. George dispatches the dragon with a sword rather than a spear. The reason for this choice, and for the absence of the horse, may be the tight frame in which the artist had to work.
