Memorial to St. Vincent Ferrer

Xàbia (Jávea), Valencia, Spain

St. Vincent is shown as he would have preached from a pulpit in a church. The flame above his head is a common attribute for this saint. The scroll bears a phrase also common in Vincent's portraits, Timete Deum et Date Illi Honorem (Revelation 14:7, "Fear God and give him honor"). The inscription below states that the saint actually preached from this balcony on Good Friday, 1410, and that the tiles were installed for the 500th anniversary of his canonization in 1455.
