Santa Barbara Placard

2009
Poster paint on posterboard
Santa Fe Plaza, Santa Fe, New Mexico

This work was created for a festival sponsored by the cathedral. The tower that is St. Barbara's primary attribute is represented in the lower right of the placard, with three windows in the section above the entrance. The saint is also identified by the label painted at the bottom, the halo, and the martyr's palm in her left hand. The sun and flower are unrelated to the traditional icongraphy.

As befits the context, the saint as represented has the coppery skin of a native New Mexican.
