Vincent de Kastav
St. George and the Dragon

1474
Fresco
Church of St. Mary, Beram, Croatia

Despite the late date, St. George's shield lacks the characteristic red-cross blazon. Instead, it has the alternating red and white stripes seen in a reliquary plaque in Poreč and the shield of the city of Poreč (see below). Beram and Poreč are both in the county of Istria.

Otherwise the fresco follows all the conventional details: the winged dragon, the princess with her belt, George on his horse, the spear, and the city of Silena in the background.
