St. Francis Receives the Stigmata


The cross is held up by six winged putti rather than the six-winged seraph in Thomas of Celano's account, but otherwise the details follow that account faithfully: the companion, the chapel, the mountain, and the lines from Christ's wounds to Francis's hands, feet, and side.
